Udine

(25 km): Ancient city rich in monuments and buildings from the Venetian era. A must-see are the Tiepolo frescoes in the Patriarchal Palace, a true gem of Venetian painting. Recently, the new contemporary art museum at Casa Cavazzini has also been inaugurated.

Aquileia

(30 km): Roman colony founded in 181 B.C., it was the capital of the 10th Augustan region and a metropolis of the Christian Church. It is the most important archaeological site in northern Italy alongside Ravenna. In the medieval Basilica, you will find the magnificent Early Christian mosaics, which cover the entire surface of the naves.

Trieste

(60 km) A splendid city with an Austro-Hungarian layout, set in a beautiful location on the gulf with a magnificent view of the Adriatic. There are numerous cultural and scenic attractions nearby. Must-sees include: Miramare Castle, where Princess Sissi stayed; the Revoltella Museum, rich in modern and contemporary works; Piazza Unità d’Italia. Particularly enchanting are walks along the waterfront, in the Teresian and Josephine quarter, and in the oldest part of the city with the medieval section and the old ghetto. Numerous restaurants and famous trattorias will let you savor the delicious local dishes.

Cividale

(10 km) An ancient town of Roman origin, today it is especially famous for its rich Lombard heritage, with the small temple being the main attraction. In addition to the splendid medieval village, the cathedral and the Roman archaeological museum are worth visiting. Due to the beauty and preservation of its historic center and monuments, Cividale has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and today represents an unmissable stop on any trip to Friuli.

Grotte di Postumia

(70 km) With a network of over 21 km of caves and galleries, these are the largest caves of the Karst region, and among the most visited in Europe due to their abundance of stalagmites and stalactites.

Grado

(40 km) The island of Grado offers numerous kilometers of sandy beaches, mostly facing south. The lagoon is also interesting, rich in trees and wildlife, with its characteristic casoni—straw-roofed houses historically used by fishermen. The historic center of the island is very beautiful, featuring the two early Christian basilicas of Sant’Eufemia and Santa Maria delle Grazie.

Rafting

(50 km) Looking for a bit of adrenaline and activity? Then head to the Isonzo River (Soca in Slovenia), one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, where you can safely and enjoyably experience the wonders of the river and its pristine landscapes.

Golf

(10 km) Within the splendid setting of the Castello di Spessa park and its surrounding lands, you’ll find a magical 18-hole golf course designed by the renowned architect Giacomo Cabrini. The course features diverse panoramas, with fairways shaped differently to give the impression of playing on three distinct courses. Another unique aspect is that each hole is completely different from the others. Facilities include a training center, putting green, chipping green, illuminated driving range with 25 stations, pro shop, rental bags, trolleys and carts, clubhouse, bar, restaurant, and changing rooms.
